GET OUT AND HAVE FUN - Belle's Hot Chicken

Cool spot, good food, conveniently located at Barangaroo with world-class wheelchair access.

You can hop on a train from anywhere in Sydney and beyond, get off at Wynyard station (staffed to be wheelchair accessible 24x7) and then head down the hill towards the water and you’ll find the North end of King St Warf and the South end of Barangaroo where Belle’s Hot Chicken is located.

This is part of the new Barangaroo precinct still under development – the developer decided to put a bunch of cool pop -ups here so Sydney-siders could come and sit by the water while enjoying something a bit different. Compared to the other precincts along the water like King St. Warf and Darling Harbour, this little stretch is a lot more chilled, a lot less crowded and much prettier.

Here you’ll find: Melbourne’s famous ‘Belle’s Hot Chicken’, trendy bar ‘Gin & It’, Sydney legend ‘Mamak’ and the always delightful ‘Bourke St. Bakery’. Most of the seating area is outdoors, half in the sun and half under cover. The whole complex is very spacious and unbelievably accessible. Wheelchair ramps are cleverly integrated into the design so you won’t have to send your friends to go one way and you another. Almost seamless!

Wheelchair accessible toilet? Easy! The wide, flat and immaculately maintained toilet facility in the middle of the dining area is easy to find and easy to use. The disabled toilet is big and well designed, it is hardly ever occupied by people that don’t need it because there’s ample capacity for everyone.

Belle’s Hot Chicken is simply awesome. It’s big, it’s juicy, it’s coated, it’s deep fried, need I say more? Oh yeah, don’t forget freshly cooked, perfectly seasoned crunchy chips, refreshing pickles and creamy sauce for all. If you have the capacity, get ‘The Bucket’ with 14 wings, 4 sides, 3 sauces and $20 of discount.

Warning! Not suitable for first dates and meeting the in-laws.

Coming here is a package deal. It’s the beautiful view, the tranquil setting, the well-designed facility as well as the food and drinks. Sure there is cheaper beer and good chicken elsewhere, but on a warm sunny day, this place is more than a 4/5.
